Steve Collens is the CEO of Matter, a healthtech incubator in the Merchandise Mart. The health technology community has been missing a common meeting ground, he told the Tribune.
“We think that by creating an environment that brings together entrepreneurs and mentors who are working on different types of health technology, there will be some interesting collaborations that emerge from that,” Collens told Blue Sky.
Collens helped launch 1871 and spent a decade with Abbott Laboratories involved in product marketing and public affairs. He previously served as senior vice president at Pritzker Group and is now a strategic adviser to Pritzker Group Venture Capital.
Collens holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management and a bachelor’s from Washington University. He is a Leadership Greater Chicago fellow and serves on the boards of the Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center and the Chicago Artists’ Coalition.
