Fabian Elliott is CEO of Black Tech Mecca, an initiative he cofounded with Dineo Seakamela in 2015 to position Chicago as a capital for black technology ventures.

Black Tech Mecca uses data to identify challenges impacting black tech professionals in local tech ecosystems and suggests strategies to boost black participation and mobility.

“The absence of collaborative synergy and a universal tracking mechanism to measure progress has left the black community vastly underrepresented in Chicago’s tech sector, which restricts desperately needed economic opportunity, “ Elliott told Blue Sky.

Elliott has been a technical solutions consultant at Google in Chicago since 2014; he started with the company in 2012 after a 2011 internship there. He was global co-chair of the Black Googler Network, and employee resource group focused on recruiting and retaining blacks and community service.

He has a degree in marketing from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
