Megan McCann is co-founder of ARA, a mentorship network for women in IT, and president and founder of IT recruitment firm McCann Partners. Events on women’s issues can expose organizers to strong opinions on the topic, she told Blue Sky.

“The first time we did the all-male panel, we did get a lot of criticism,” McCann said. “But what we chose to do was not let that stop us.”

McCann helped found IT staffing and services firm Geneva Technical Services, where she served as partner and vice president. She was previously account manager and senior staffing manager at SelecTech, a data processing resources corporation. Before working at SelecTech, McCann was director of international recruitment and assistant dean of admission at Wittenberg University, her alma mater.

McCann received her BA in English with minors in communications and business administration. She has served on committees for Make-A-Wish of Illinois, Chicago nonprofit i.c. stars and serves on Wittenberg University’s Alumni Association Board. She was recently named to Techweek Chicago’s Techweek100 list along with ARA co-founders Leslie Vickrey and Jane Gilligan Hamner.
