Coco Meers, a veteran beauty industry marketing professional, is the founder of an online community that helps users book last-minute appointments with some of the city’s top salons and spas.
The Alabama native worked for L’Oreal in New York and Paris before launching PrettyQuick in 2012.
“Entrepreneurship is about action and it’s about discipline,” she told Blue Sky. “We all have ideas, and you can innovate in your own ways. You might work for a big company and you might innovate in an entrepreneurial way within your organization, and if you actually innovate within your culture, I think that makes you an entrepreneur.”
Meers hit on the idea of helping others schedule beauty appointments after getting an airport eyebrow waxing during a flight delay. Customers can choose from 500 spas and salons that have been vetted by PrettyQuick’s beauty editors.
Meers lives in Chicago and serves on the board of the Joffrey Ballet.
She has a B.A. from Princeton University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
