Rishi Shah is co-founder and CEO of Outcome Health, originally called ContextMedia, and co-founder of angel fund JumpStart Ventures.
Outcome Health offers products including digital anatomy boards to help doctors talk to patients about illnesses or treatment options, and programming relevant to an office’s patient population to be shown on screens in waiting rooms. The company said in January that it would add 600 jobs by the end of 2016.
In 2012, Shah and co-founder Shradha Agarwal, both leaders and frequent speakers on Chicago’s tech scene, started angel fund JumpStart Ventures to help launch businesses focused on health and education. As of 2014, the $10 million fund had made 30 investments, according to Shah.
“It’s a way to back entrepreneurs that we really think are building companies we think the world is better off with,” he told Blue Sky. “We focus on first-time entrepreneurs in health- and ed-tech in spaces that don’t get enough attention sometimes. We help them to hire their first several people, scale their business and be available as a sounding board for advice.”
Shah serves on the boards of the Young Presidents’ Organization, the Institute for Student Business Education at Northwestern University and the Academy for Global Citizenship, a charter school. He also serves as a mentor for numerous technology startup accelerator/incubator programs including Techstars Chicago, 1871, Healthbox and Blueprint Health.
Shah was named to the board of the Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center, which runs 1871, in early 2015.
He attended Northwestern University and lives in Chicago.
