Guy Turner is a partner at Hyde Park Venture Partners, an early-stage venture fund that focuses on software startups in the Midwest. He also is an investing member of the Hyde Park Angels.
Turner joined Hyde Park Venture Partners in 2012 after a stint in the Kauffman Fellows Program, a two-year leadership development program for venture capitalists. Before that, he was a consultant at the Boston Consulting Group.
Turner has led investments at a number of B2B software companies, including Geofeedia, InContext Solutions and Iris Mobile, serving on the board of directors at each company.
In March, Hyde Park Venture Partners expanded its regional reach, opening an office in Indianapolis after forays into Cincinnati, Ann Arbor, Mich., and Minneapolis.
Turner told Blue Sky that he sees other Midwestern cities as additional opportunities for venture capitalists.
“We’ve found as a fund that there is as much opportunity or more at times outside of Chicago as there is in Chicago, and so it’s something over time that we’re doubling down into,” he said.
Turner is a former mechanical engineer with Raytheon and General Electric and holds a bachelor’s of science in mechanical engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business.
