Gale Bowman is the managing director of Irish Angels, an investor network made up of University of Notre Dame alums that was founded in 2012.
Under Bowman’s direction the group now has 150 investors nationwide who are Notre Dame students, parents, graduates or faculty members. She has managed investments totaling more than $5.5 million in seed and Series A capital.
“The number one tip I have for entrepreneurs looking for investors is: ‘Do your research, talk to people that have raised money in your industry and sit down with them and figure out what you should be doing today,” she told Blue Sky. “I really appreciate when entrepreneurs come to us and have done their homework.”
The network’s investments include Chicago-based Rivs, which makes HR software; real estate analytics start up Rentlytics; and TradingView, which was a member of Techstars.
Before starting Irish Angels, Bowman worked in market research consulting at Nielsen and corporate strategy at Orbitz. She is on the board of the C200 Scholars Network and is a member of the Irish Entrepreneurs Network.
She has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
