Stuart Larkins has spent much of his career focused on early-stage startups. He is co-founder and partner of Chicago Ventures, a seed-stage venture capital fund.
“Most companies we invest in don’t have any revenue, or very little,” he told Blue Sky. “So you’re not doing any number crunching. You’re gut checking. That’s where folks with operational backgrounds walk in the shoes they’re investing in. You’re always looking for people to validate your thoughts, or whether you’re moving in the right direction, or frankly tell you whether you’re not.”
He is also the founder and managing partner of Twin Capital, where he is an investor in early-stage interactive marketing service and technology companies.
Before joining Chicago Ventures, he was senior vice president at Performics, a search engine marketing firm that was acquired by Doubleclick, Hellman & Friedman, Google and Publicis.
He is on the board of directors at PerformLine and Trunk Club and is on the board of trustees of the Shedd Aquarium, a member of the Economic Club of Chicago and a member of the Springboard Foundation.
He has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Southern Methodist University.
