Simona Rollinson was named CIO of Cook County in 2014 after three years as president of Follett Software, an education technology firm in McHenry. She is also co-owner of Kendy USA, a manufacturer of probiotic and nutritional supplements.
“I’m a strong believer that we need to make a conscientious effort to have women in businesses and governmental agencies because too many girls are not thinking about a career in technology,” she told Blue Sky.
Rollinson joined Follett in 1998, serving in a variety of roles including vice president of services and operations and director of engineering.
She holds bachelor of science degrees in computer technology from Technical University-Sofia in Bulgaria and from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, and a master of science from SIU. She is a graduate of the Chicago Management Institute at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
